. Physical properties of infrared rays

Infrared is one of the many invisible rays in the sun's rays. It was discovered by the German scientist Hoxchel in 1800, also known as infrared thermal radiation. Thermometers were placed in place in an attempt to measure the heating effect of the various colors of light. It was found that the thermometer located outside the red light rose the fastest. Therefore, it is concluded that in the solar spectrum, there must be invisible light outside the red light, which is infrared. It can also be used as the medium of transmission. The wavelength of infrared rays on the solar spectrum is greater than that of visible rays, with a wavelength of 0.75 to 1000 μm. Infrared rays can be divided into three parts, namely, near-infrared rays, with a wavelength of 0.75-1.50 μm, which penetrate deeply into human tissue, about 5-10 mm; mid-infrared rays, with a wavelength of 1.50-6.0 μm; far-infrared rays, with a wavelength of 6.0 μm. The depth of penetration into tissue is less than 2mm between ~l000μm.

However, according to the regulations of the International Commission on Illumination: 0.78-1.4 μm is far-infrared, 1.4-3 μm is mid-infrared, and 3-1000 μm is far-infrared. Infrared radiation is a kind of electromagnetic radiation, so it is called far-infrared radiation.
